December 2025 Prayer Requests

Peter Lau, December 21, 2025December 21, 2025
A kind client gave me tickets to the UCLA/USC game, but sadly UCLA lost

Hi folks, I originally had a long-winded reflective post… but right now, may I ask you for your prayers?

Overall, I’m doing okay. My tumor marker numbers have been fluctuating, but are mostly trending up. However, I still feel okay, and the definitive indicator will be my CT scan which is scheduled for Tuesday, 12/23/25.

Current status:

Recently, I’ve been experiencing some new and rather deep abdominal pain. It could be anything from inflammation to something more serious – and I’m hoping that the CT scan brings clarity.

My tumor markers have been trending up (possibly indicating tumor growth), but the marker numbers could be affected by some of the inflammation I’ve been experiencing the last few months.

My oncologist has encouraged me to look into a clinical trial out of state.  I’ve applied and the process is moving along.  However, there may be some insurance issues where my Blue Shield PPO may not cover non-emergency medical procedures outside of California. I’m following up with phone calls this week.  If it works out, I’ll figure out how I’ll be able to fly in every few weeks for them to monitor my progress.

When I was first diagnosed, many people asked me about my “bucket list.” I realized I don’t really have one, but I have recently been thinking about taking a brief trip that I’ve wanted to take for many years. I’ll try and figure out if my medical situation allows and the timing is right.

Prayer Requests for:

  1. the CT scan on Tuesday, 12/23/25 to go well and, hopefully, for the tumor(s) to have not spread, and ideally, remain stable or have shrinkage. Prayerfully, the CT technicians will be able to have definitive results.
  2. my tumor markers to become more reliable, and hopefully reduced inflammation and the numbers trending down.
  3. the new abdominal pains to be identified, best case scenario as something uneventful and manageable.
  4. If this clinical trial is right for me, that logistics and insurance fall into place – or that a more local option comes up.
  5. Clarity and wisdom whether a brief trip at this time would be appropriate and not negatively impact my treatment and/or participation in a clinical trial.

Sadly, once again, we’ve had a number of members from my pancreatic support group pass on recently. It’s hard for me, the group members and their loved ones, but I’m so glad I knew them and have been encouraged by their lives. If you could, please include them in your prayers especially during this holiday season.

Whether you know it or not, you are all part of what keeps me going, and I’m thankful for your time, encouragement, and prayers! So grateful for your support!

Merry Christmas to you all,

P
