Summary:
Happy to report that my cancer marker numbers are still decreasing.
Prayers are needed for the side effects including neuropathy.
This has been a very reflective time.
Next treatment is Monday, December 11.
Your continued prayers mean a lot to me.
Doctor’s Meeting
I’ve done 4 cycles of chemo, and so far, the response looks good. My cancer markers have declined dramatically and we’re significantly chipping away at it. When we started this, the cancer was described as a brush fire that we were trying to contain so it wouldn’t grow uncontrollably, possibly hoping to put it out. So we are slowly containing more and more.
In a couple more cycles we’ll do some scans, and until then, we’ll track the cancer markers and keep on keeping on, or as my friend Aron says, “Keep on truckin’!”
Side Effects
I continue to experience the same side effects, but a little sooner, stronger, and longer lasting, namely neuropathy especially on the days before I start my next cycle. Digesting food has been taking a bit longer recently, so we’re trying to figure out if it’s a side effect of the chemotherapy or if my pancreas is producing less enzymes that aid in digestion. Either way all side effects are still manageable, but the effects are accumulating. I appreciate your prayers.
Familiarity
Both the routine of the five-hour infusion day and the subsequent days on the pump are becoming more familiar, so I know what to expect and that helps.
Mom’s Bday
Last week would have been my mom’s birthday. I’ll lovingly remember her as my dear mom as I receive my own chemo 40 years later.
Thank You
Thanks again for praying for me and others.
I do believe it helps all of us in our faith.
Numerous times I’ve become aware that people have prayed for me during crucial times, and for that I’m very grateful.
I also understand that the goal isn’t (just) that I be cancer free, or that I weather this chemotherapy treatment, but I hope you join me in looking at our lives, our purpose, and what do we really value and what do we really believe?
It’s a faith exercise to trust an unseen God with each day I’m given on this earth.
Thanks,
P
Dear Peter,
Following along with you on your treatment journey is an eye opening experience to the power of positivity. Your faith, courage and strength are inspirational. It is so heartening to hear that you are making good progress despite the numerous challenges you are facing. Clearly, you are much loved and have a strong network of support. I hope that this next treatment will put even more distance between you and the “brush fire”, and keep leading you forward into the clear. I look forward to your updates.
Sending you my prayers, healing thoughts and sincere admiration,
Teleia
