Cycle 8

Peter, February 6, 2024February 6, 2024

That was a weird cycle.

The good news is that I got to get my chemo treatment this past week. Lesser news is that it was delayed a week because of a cough I had. I was on antibiotics, and I couldn’t shake the cough. I took a multitude of COVID tests, all came back negative, but nonetheless, it was not fun. I received my transfusion in a private room so I wouldn’t cough/scare the other patients.

Missing one week of chemo did affect one of my cancer markers, but it also could have been from the infection that I was experiencing last week. Hopefully, my markers will continue to move in the right direction once I’m back to my regular chemo schedule.

I don’t like the idea of missing or delaying a chemo cycle, and as careful as I thought I was being, I’ll have to be even more diligent.

With the persistent cough and slightly stronger side effects this week, it was humbling. I felt a little bit closer to the experience that so many others have had. I truly have been fortunate that my reaction to the chemotherapy continues to be manageable.

I saw this video which kind of summed up how I feel:

Speaking of videos, I’ll share two more with you…

I found this to be a good primer on Pancreatic Cancer. It sums up a lot of info:

CT Scan Results Great news! There’s no new tumor growth, and it’s actually continued to shrink slightly since my radiation treatments in April. The scan didn’t explain my abdominal pain, but we’re working on figuring it out. A radiologist friend reviewed my scans with me and thinks the pain may…

Tim Keller A friend sent me this youtube of Tim Keller, a pastor that I would frequent when in NYC. Before he passed from Pancreatic Cancer, this was one of the last interviews, and he spoke about “Scanxiety,” a common experience with getting results. Tim Keller Q&A on cancer, prayer…
